Be aware, however, that there is debate among scholars about this identification.

"Into His Own - Perspectives on the World of Jesus"
From Rutger's University; see especially the excerpts from ancient authors under "Philosophy and Allegory" and "Samaritan Theology." The "Marqah" from which the
most interesting quotes come, however, is usually dated to the 4th century A.D., which
raises the question of whether these aspects of Samaritan theology were around early 
enough to influence John. Still, the parallels are interesting....
